Our Community, Our Future - Exciting opportunity

People in Branchton, Bow Farm, Fancy Farm, Grieve Road and Pennyfern, can put forward ideas for local health and wellbeing projects and then vote on the ideas they like the best.

The money will be allocated using a Participatory Budgeting approach, meaning decisions about how money is spent in an area are taken by the people who live there. Projects can be proposed by anyone, including schools, voluntary organisations and individuals, and will be able to receive up to £5,000 towards their project.

The programme, entitled Our Community, Our Future, is being backed with a grant from Scottish Government's Community Choices Fund. Oak Tree Housing Association has brought in local community development agency CVS Inverclyde to facilitate the process. In order to make sure the decisions are led by the community, a steering group will be established to oversee the process and a series of events will provide information in each of the areas. These three South West Greenock events will take place on:

Monday 22 October, 5.30pm, South West Library, 159 Inverkip Road

Thursday 1 November, 7pm, Grieve Road Community Centre

Saturday 10 November, 12pm, Branchton Community Centre

A final event will take place in March 2019 where everyone in the area can help decide how the fund is spent.
