Oak Tree prepares for August AGM

Oak Tree Housing Association is preparing to welcome members and guests to its 2019 AGM at the Tontine Hotel, Ardgowan Square, Greenock, at 7pm on Tuesday 13 August.

In advance of the AGM, members are being invited to put forward nominations for the Oak Tree management committee, with completed forms, which must be signed by one other member, returned to its offices by the deadline of noon on Tuesday 23 July. Members are unable to nominate themselves for election to the committee.

“We are looking for individuals who are committed to our drive to support the local communities we engage with and the needs of our tenants, through the provision and development of high quality housing and related services, and to assist in delivering on the strategic housing objectives for Inverclyde,” said Oak Tree Housing Association’s Chairperson, Colin Campbell.

“We are particularly keen to hear from tenants who are members, or any members in general, with relevant local knowledge and/or experience, who feel they have a contribution to make to the work of the Association. In return, our management committee members have the satisfaction of contributing to improving the lives of local people, as well as the opportunity to work in what is a stimulating and mutually supportive environment that can help develop their knowledge and personal skills.

“We very much look forward to welcoming members and guests to our AGM this August, when they will hear about our activities over the past year.”

Following its success at the AGM over the past two years, staff from Oak Tree’s reactive repairs, planned maintenance, finance and housing services teams, will be on hand again in a Live Hub running prior to the AGM from 6pm, to answer any queries and provide real-time information. They will be joined in the Live Hub by staff from the Inverclyde Common Housing Register.

Once AGM business has been concluded, a Q&A session will also give members the opportunity to put questions to the management committee and senior staff. Voting by proxy is also permitted for members unable to attend. Those wishing to appoint a proxy must notify Oak Tree Housing Association in advance, by completing the special form they will receive with further papers being issued later this month and returning it by Thursday 8 August.

Sandwiches, light refreshments, tea, coffee and biscuits will be available on the night.
