Oak Tree HA has recently completed a tender exercise for works to all domestic properties to receive interlinked heat, smoke, and carbon monoxide detection.

This requirement is due to the regulatory update passed by Scottish Government in February 2019, and is to be completed by February 2021.

A two stage tender process was undertaken late 2019 with an award to J Frew (Gas sure) being approved in January 2020.

J Frew (Gas Sure) is the Associations gas servicing contractor, therefore holds full awareness of our housing stock.

The contractor’s intention is to undertake the detection upgrade at the same time as your next boiler service visit.

Where your property does not have gas heating, the contractor will contact separately to arrange an appointment.

On completion of installation upgrade, you will have the following within your home:

·         Smoke alarms in every circulation space on each storey, such as hallways and landings.

·         Smoke alarms installed in the room most frequently used for general daytime living purposes

·         Heat alarms installed in every kitchen.

·         Carbon Monoxide alarms fitted where there is a fuel burning appliance or flue

·         All alarms fitted will be interlinked.
 

To assist all users, Oak Tree HA have also undertaken to fit a low level “wall mounted” controller, which will enable ease of use, testing, and identification if an alarm situation were to occur.
 

All detectors being utilised are manufactured by Aico Ltd, who are the current market leader in fire safety. All contractor staff and Oak Tree HA maintenance staff have undertaken accredited “Expert Installer” training for this installation upgrade, ensuring knowledge and awareness of the product being placed within your home.
